'The Voice' Recap: Top 12 Perform Ahead of Live Semi-Finals

In a new episode of the long-running singing competition series, the remaining 12 singers hit the stage in hopes of getting a spot in the Live Semi-Finals

AceShowbiz - The remaining singers in "The Voice" season 25 were only a few steps away from the Finals. In the Monday, May 6 episode of the singing competition series, the Top 12 hit the stage in hopes of getting a spot in the Live Semi-Finals.

Team John Legend's Bryan Olesen opened the night with a performance of "Don't Stop Me Now" by Queen. Coach Reba McEntire called Bryan a "great performer," while Chance The Rapper loved Bryan's energy that made him fit for an opener. As for John, he believed that Bryan was ready to "sell out arenas."

Performing next was Team Dan + Shay's Tae Lewis, who opted for his coaches' first single "19 You + Me". Reba said that Tae's "personality and wonderful smile" were his assets. Shay "got emotional" watching his journey on the show, while Dan dubbed it his "best performance" so far.

Later, Team Chance's Maddi Jane hit the stage to sing "happier than ever" by Billie Eilish. Chance was impressed by the performance, telling Maddi that she's "been incredible the whole competition" and "always had the stage presence." He also praised Maddi for being able to keep her pitch throughout her performance.

Singing Patty Griffin's "Up to the Mountain" was L. Rodgers from Team Reba. Reba said she "nailed" everything she pointed out during rehearsals. Later, Madison Curbelo from Team Dan + Shay took the stage to belt out "Yesterday" by The Beatles. Dan loved how Madison added just enough flavor of [her] personality" in her performance.

Team Reba's Asher HaVon was up next, singing Boyz II Men's "I'll Make Love to You". Reba said she felt emotional after the performance, telling Asher that they have a God-given talent to be a performer. Chance, meanwhile, believed that Asher would win this season.

Zoe Levert from Team John, on the other hand, sang Noah Kahan's "Stick Season" that night. Dan said that Zoe was "in her pocket" and it was "spot on." John, meanwhile, said that Zoe sounded like a "real recording artist."

Later, Karen Waldrup from Team Dan + Shay hoped to impress the coaches with her performance of "I Hope You Dance" by Lee Ann Womack. Reba pointed out Karen has "worked so hard" in her past, adding that she "did a wonderful job tonight." Shay felt the same and said that he was "blown away" by Karen for what she achieved.

Serenity Arce from Team Chance followed it up with a performance of Olivia Rodrigo's "traitor". Dan called it "a powerful performance," while Chance said she "makes the stage [her] own" with "emotional and heartfelt" performances.

Nadege, another singer from Team Chance, then hit the stage to perform her rendition of "He Loves Me" by Jill Scott. John said it was a "perfect song" for her. Chance agreed, saying that the song was "right in [her] alley."

Team Reba's Josh Sanders opted for "Angels (Don't Always Have Wings)" by Thomas Rhett. Reba felt touched by Josh's performance, which was an honor to his wife. Shay, meanwhile, said that he was happy for Josh for "having that moment."

Rounding out that night, Nathan Chester from Team Legend took the stage to perform Jackie Wilson's "Higher & Higher". He earned a roaring standing ovation following his performance. In his comment, John praised Nathan's "clarity of vision" and "commitment" that he brought to the show.

Top 12 results will be announced in the Tuesday, May 7 episode.
